Tips for Staying Energized in the Winter Season

Jacqueline Parakin·November 12, 2025

As the weather gets colder and the days grow shorter, many of us notice a drop in mood and motivation. Does any of this sound familiar?

·      Feeling a little down or unmotivated

·      Finding less joy in your daily activities

·      Struggling with fatigue and daytime sleepiness

·      Sleeping longer but still waking up tired

You’re not alone; shorter daylight hours in winter often mean less vitamin D, which can affect both mood and energy levels. In Canada, for instance, daylight can be nearly cut in half from the longest days of June to the shortest in December.

But don’t worry, with a few mindful habits, you can keep your energy up and feel your best this season.

1.      Simple Ways to Naturally Boost Your Energy

Start with your diet. Nutrition plays a big role in how you feel day to day. Try incorporating foods that help support serotonin production, such as fish, eggs, soy products, nuts, and bananas.

Never skip breakfast! A balanced morning meal helps stabilize your energy throughout the day. Even something simple like oatmeal, eggs, or yogurt can make a big difference.

Hydration is also a key. Even though you may not feel thirsty in cold weather, dehydration still happens easily in winter. Keep a water bottle nearby or enjoy warm drinks like herbal tea to stay hydrated.

And of course, move your body. Even small bursts of activity help! Go for a short walk, do some light stretching, or try a quick home workout. If you’re busy, simply getting off the bus a stop early or walking around the block can be enough to boost circulation and mood.

2.      Keep Meals Simple with Mountain Meal Prep

When life gets hectic, during exams, work deadlines, or the busy holiday season, maintaining balanced meals can be a challenge. That’s where Meal Prep Kits come in.

Each kit includes everything you need for a nutritious meal; just add water and simmer. In about 25-30 minutes, you’ll have a hearty, home-style dish ready to enjoy.

With over 15 varieties to choose from, you can  match your meal to your cravings or schedule. Plus, because each kit is dehydrated, it has a long shelf life, meaning less food waste and more convenience for busy days.

Whether you’re feeding your family or cooking for one, these kits make it easy to eat well without the stress of meal planning or prep.

3.      Cozy Seasonal Habits to Try

Sometimes, staying energized is about finding small moments of comfort. Try incorporating these cozy habits into your routine:

Warm Beverages:

Swap your usual cold drinks for something warm. Like hot water with lemon, ginger milk, or herbal tea. These small changes can gently raise your body temperature and help you relax.

Body-Warming Ingredients:

Choose foods that help warm the body from within. Onions, carrots, ginger, apples, and peaches are great options, while lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers can have a cooling effect.

Encouraging Circulation:

Simple self-massage can do wonders for your energy and warmth. Focus on. Your calves and feet. Massaging these areas helps improve circulation, reduce swelling, and ease fatigue.

Keeping your body warm and nourished is one of the best ways to stay healthy and happy through the colder months. A few mindful habits can go a long way toward making winter feel brighter and more balanced.

Taking care of your health doesn’t have to be complicated. With simple routines, nourishing meals, and small moments of self-care, you can stay energized all season long. Make mealtime easy; discover Mountain Meal Prep Kits!
